How does it feel to know you’re not crazy, and that what you’re experiencing is legit and something that’s not your fault? After years of going undiagnosed and being blamed for your symptoms?

I've been called lazy, ditzy, an airhead, etc my whole life.......got my dx a few months ago and started meds and it is like I'm a whole new person.

Getting a diagnosis as an adult a few months ago has been super validating, but it hasn't really sunk in yet that my symptoms aren't my fault. I feel like I need to be doing more to manage my symptoms, but at the same time my symptoms have gotten in the way of figuring out how to do that I guess?

I remember being diagnosed at a young age but not being told what it really meant. I went years not understanding what was wrong with me because they never explained my diagnosis. I was younger so it makes some sense. When I finally decided to research it myself I started finding all this information I wish I had known sooner. It feels so much better to know that I'm not a bad person. I love that I can hear someone tell me I'm lazy but have the knowledge to know they're wrong. It helps so much in loving yourself and others.

@LyraDaenestra I feel that. I struggled a lot, but had no idea until I was already old enough to drink and that was just the beginning. I just found out I had ADHD last year, t explained so much.

@ICanRelateBro man that's definitely a lot. I'm really happy that I had the resources I did to research ADHD before I became an adult. I couldn't imagine the stress of finding out past that point.
