Short answer: Yes, it can. Longer answer: Yes, it can, but it may take time to find the right medication. Everyone can have different reactions to the same thing, medications included. Meds have helped me a bit, and I have treatment resistant depression. Even if it’s slowing down the ebb and flow of highs and lows, that’s better than letting it sit there untreated. Definitely bring it up the next time you see a doctor as an option. You don’t have to start right away, but at least opening the conversation of the possibility of taking meds is a good first step!

Hey Jess! For me it did help with worse symptoms. I stopped medication like year ago and my condition crashed so badly. I started with new medication which once again tool worse symptoms away and helps me to sleep. Now I'm capable to start working towards better mental health in counselling and with all self care stuff. Before the medication I couldn't even think about engaging with this kind of material!

Medication has been a vital part of my treatment. It lets me sleep at night and makes my lows less bad. Doesn't solve everything for me but definitely helps.

Hi Jess, I have suffered for years with my mental health and it took me a long time to find a medication that helped, I tried most anti anxiety/depression meds and now I’m on fluoxetine it makes me think much more rationally and keeps me calm i think some can be very heavy and make you drowsy but for me fluoxetine just calms me down and takes a bit of the weight away! I’d deffo give them a go but they aren’t right for everyone it’s what works for you x
