Hello everyone! I just found out my job is requiring the COVID vaccine. I have 3 auto immune diseases. My immune system is low due to the Mercaptopurine I take for my Ulcerative Colitis. Ive had vaccines not work on me and get me sick and Im really scared to get the COVID shot. My doctor cannot write me an exemption and I'm at risk for losing my job. Has anyone had good/bad experiences with the vaccine and have the same condition as me?

You're right, I caught covid before the vaccine was available and my 5 years of remission went down the drain.

My doctor actually insisted that I get the vaccine bc I am immune compromised. I’ve never had any issues ever with any shots, except for a a sore arm. I made the unfortunate mistake of getting the booster & my second shingles shot on the same day 🤦♀️🤦♀️
Same. I was in remission (unmedicated) for 4 years prior to COVID 💔
I flared up after the shots (both Pfizer) and then again when I eventually caught COVID 😥 Despite that, I believe COVID would have been significantly worse without the vaccines.
Taking the vaccine to me is much better than having a flare up due to covid-19.

I have had all three shots and have had no problems and never gotten covid!

I have severe ulcerative colitis. With it at times comes the bleeding which scares me because I am on Eliquis due to my Afib. I also am still taking meds for breast cancer. It’s been four years but it doesn’t do my immune system any good. I am so glad I am fully vaccinated. It gives me the piece of mind knowing I have done everything I can not to die from Covid. I have fought to hard to stay healthy. I had very little side effects.

All 3 shots
I work in a hospital, I got all 3 shorts because I am obviously immune compromised & if I didn’t get them I would be out of a job
I’m so so glad I got mine. Also have UC and IBS, I cannot imagine what covid would do to our bodies what with all the long term health effects it causes when you catch it unvaccinated. Also it’s not live virus, thankfully, which means it won’t give us covid to get it, unlike the live flu vaccine which is more necessary to discuss with your doctor.
I only had the first one because I keep getting sick and my doctor said not to get it when I'm sick
Hi there!! I had all three - and very happy I did. I did recently get COVID and I know for a fact, if I didn't have the booster I likely would have ended up in the hospital. Everyone certainly is different, but I truly do feel I owe my life to the vaccines. Sometimes the few days of being sick post vaccine are much much better than getting sick without the antibodies. Once again, totally just my own experience (may not be the same for everyone) but just wanted to share.
