I’ve had the same thought it’s pernicious, I think it makes perfect logical sense from one point of view, but I think that pov depends a bit on depression I think the key is that a horse isn’t the same as a person or, in probably better terms, the value of your life doesn’t derive from your usefulness I hope you can trust me, even though I’m a complete stranger, when I say that it gets better even if your physical symptoms aren’t treatable, your mental ones are (I’m guessing that you’re struggling with some kind of illness-induced depression symptoms) and even if I’m wrong, I’d argue that you owe it to yourself to hang on and see if things don’t improve in a year or two it helps me, too, to think about dogs with missing limbs that’s a solid example of making the most of a situation a fraction of a life is better than nothing, and even if you someday lost all functionality, you’d still have value

you might. Then again, you might not. Depression is a real thing, no doubt about it, but I believe there are things we can do to make ourselves feel better and also things we often do to ourselves to make it worse. I know that often for me, I feel super unmotivated to even try to do anything to make myself feel better. It feels pointless. Thing is, that's the depression talking. It takes a lot of courage to do something good for myself anyway. Doesn't always happen, but I'm thankful when I manage it.
What are some things that you CAN do? If you focus on what you can't do, you'll feel depressed, guaranteed.
@CameronElizabeth i have the sneaking suspicion that i will feel depressed regardless 🧍♀️
I often compare my life to that of a deer hit by a car. It is still alive but clearly not going to live. The most humane thing to do is to kill it so it doesn’t suffer. It’s dark I guess but that is truly what feels right. With no guarantee my medical issues will get better, what is the point of forcing me to go on living a life that is painful and dreadful and limited because of my medical stuff.
Yes. I cannot do many of the things I used to do. I cannot even walk my neighborhood anymore and Knee replacements as well as back surgery are in my near future.I don’t keep my house clean anymore. I’m always behind and struggle to do the basics. The more things you have wrong with you, the worse it gets. I feel your pain.
