Has anyone found anything to help with the emotional symptoms of PMDD, aside from anti-depressants? My mental health is better than ever overall, thanks to my medication… but for about a week every month I become suicidal and have a breakdown. I’m already on an SSRI, so I’m not sure what else to do since that is what’s usually recommended. I’m not on birth control or any other medication that could be affecting me hormonally. I can’t continue to live this way and need to find some kind of treatment. Thanks in advance for any advice!

I don’t want to suggest something that’s illegal in your state, but here medical marijuana is legal and it helps me better than Xanax sometimes.. but Xanax also helps if things get bad emotionally.

You can also speak to a therapist about managing your PMDD symptoms :) also you can tell your doctor that you get medicine for to up your dose around that time

It might be worth trying another ssri. I switched from viibryd to zoloft and my pmdd got much better. I also take birth control, though I don't know how much of an effect it has since I've been taking it for a decade.

Birth control is the only thing that helps stabilize me. I've used Mirena with success in the past. I currently have the nexplanon which is also working great. My tubes are tied but I need the hormones for my sanity. I also take Zoloft along with it. Good luck!
