In my mind I replay the same kinda like a nightmare but I’m still awake and keep replaying the same terrifying thing and can’t turn my brain off of it, is there anything I can do about it? It’s scary and I can’t control it anymore to the point I zone out or can’t sleep.

You have to try your best to acknowledge when it's happening and to do something to distract yourself from overthinking about things that don't need to be over-thought.

I had the same thing happen after seeing something scary happen to my daughter... Kept replaying it over and over for a long while. I dont remember when it stopped but it might have been that i accepted the outcome and felt better that she is safe with me now and is fine. In your situation, maybe reflect on the outcome and find the positive thing and focus on that? Like you are alive, safe, and made it past the event. (I dont mean to sound dismissive at all, since i dont know your situation its hard to give advice I guess sorry)

When it comes to trying to sleep, breathing exercise and muscle focus treatments have been tremendously helpful for me. Count breaths, and focus on relaxing your body one piece at a time starting with your toes. Work your way up to your head while monitoring your breathing. This really helps me when I'm trying to sleep and verging on a panic attack. ❤️

@iadoregore this is also what I do when I can’t seem to relax my body. Being aware and in tune with our bodies is a so important
