I love my boyfriend. But I wish he would just stop acting like he knows my anxiety disorder. Like I know he is here dealing with it with me but it’s still me going through it, he doesn’t know what it’s like in my head.

@Toomin Not really my business, but your girlfriend doesn't sound very considerate of mental illness 😕

If it helps, remind him anxiety isn’t the same for everyone. Every disorder presents itself uniquely in every individual, so maybe try to convey that there are things he’s going through you don’t understand and things you’re going through he doesn’t. Also, “I understand/know what you’re going through” can sometimes be very reassuring or extremely invalidating depending on the people and circumstance, so if you can, let him know how that really makes you feel so that he doesn’t continue to think it’s actually helping. (I also definitely agree with everyone else’s advice, just adding this on~)

Sometimes they’re just trying the best with the information they have. If you’re talking to him about something and you want something specific out of it, sometimes it helps to just point blank say “this is the problem, and this is the type of support I need”

My gf is the same way my favorite thing to hear is "it's all in your head."

I completely understand, when u ask for comfort/understanding, u get advice and then when u want advice, they give u understanding/care xD . I would just be straight up and tell him ur just looking for comfort.
