any advice on PTSD nightmares or just nightmares in general? i just had a nap and im getting so tired and scared of falling asleep. I get such horrible dreams about trauma and nothing has helped, not even any medicine I've tried and the doctors say there isn't much more they can do

I wish I could help you but I still haven't figured it out myself yet 😞😊

This might not help for all types of PTSD but my therapist suggested that when I wake up from a nightmare I try to reimagine the ending and change it to a better one. I have SA trauma so I try to imagine fighting back and a somewhat better ending than what happened. It obviously doesn’t change anything that did happen but makes me feel stronger and in more control of my thoughts etc. you can also do this before going to bed so it’s fresh in your head. Might not stop the nightmares but may help with the anxiety around it if it makes you feel more in control perhaps

I've struggled with this a lot. What has helped me is exercising at somepoint during the day to tire me out and release happy chemicals, and reading before bed to distract my mind. It doesn't always get rid of the dreams but going to sleep in a much more calm state limits the chances of the nightmares. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this, I hope knowing you're not alone gives you some hope that it will get better!

Some people have found relief from PTSD nightmares by using a blood pressure medication called Prazosin in small doses. It's important to talk to a healthcare professional to see if this could be an option for you. Additionally, practicing self-care and reaching out to friends for support when experiencing nightmares can help remind you that you're safe now.
