Does anyone else's digestive issues have almost nothing to do with what foods you eat specifically? It doesn't really matter what I eat for the most part, I end up with immediate abdominal swelling and fullness. I always end up so backed up as well, no matter what I eat. I can drink tons of water and eat soft, fibrous foods and it won't make a single difference. the funny thing is though, the only foods that actually pass through a little faster and cause less swelling and bloating are.. refined and sugary foods like cake or donuts. i once ate nothing but cake for 3 days (it was a really good cake lol) and I was doing better than usual and I could eat more while being less bloated. aside from that, just.. anything going into my digestive system causes problems, even drinking water. it's so annoying, because it's impossible to avoid just by eating certain foods or something. and since I get so full after small amounts, a meal for me is like a piece of toast or something, or a cup of soup, so it's hard to maintain my weight sometimes, and even when I'm hungry I'm still full and bloated. it's a constant struggle

We're the same person
Did you have a gastric emptying study done? Reason I ask is I had the same problem and they just kept telling me I needed more fiber. Changed over to a motility GI and she figured out I actually have gastroparesis so I need LESS fiber and MORE protein/low fat. My IBS has been great since I switched to my gastro diet and got the correct meds

@100Percent_K was going to say get checked for gastrophoresis as well. I would eat blow up and hours later would throw my food up like I just ate it. Wasn't digesting my food. Eat everything but you're meat first. Meat can take 4 hrs to digest while everything else is about 30 mins to an hour. It sits on the meat and ferments causing bloating and gas
@akelnme good theory. I have microbial overgrowth and I can see that.

@100Percent_K yes, about 5 years ago when the issue had first started, and it came back normal. I wonder if it would be different now though since it's been so long and it won't go away
@hazyeclipse I think it’s worth a go! I got different results within a 2 year time span, so I definitely say it’s possible
Oh my gosh, you just described me! Most of the time I can only tolerate bread and soup. Sometimes half of a sandwich, but it has to only have meat on it. And most of the time, I end up in tears part way through my pathetic meal. I cannot handle veggies of any kind - they go straight through. I used to be great with fruit. Joke's on me! Not anymore. I lost 11 pounds in one month and my GI didn't seem to even be concerned. I can't seem to gain or even maintain my weight at this point. Anyway, the point is that I feel for you and I'm sorry you're suffering too.
