I just got diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I’m really struggling with the validity of it, like I keep seeing that it’s not a real diagnosis. It sounds like it’s in my head and not real, like I’m causing this pain myself. Does anyone else feel this way?

Fibromyalgia is not false, in the medical field they are unsure of it because every single person has a different issue with it, it's one of the most unidentified and unstudied disease, some of the things that they say trigger is PTSD,stress, physical or mental trauma, ECT, do some research about it, I did after I was diagnosed. My rheumatologist told me that every single person that she has had come in with fibromyalgia, all have different symptoms or pain scale,

Fibromyalgia is absolutely NOT false and for me, it’s debilitating. I currently take Cymbalta, meloxicam, and gabapentin to keep my pain and nausea manageable enough to work and be semi-normal/social😂 I promise you aren’t alone and it’s not in your head.

I have had people tell me that it isn't a real disease that it was something made up by the medical field to diagnose peopke who keep complaining of pain and that they can't see any answers otherwise. I hope that's false because if this isn't what I have I want to keep digging. Ots been years and its more than just pain.

I was first diagnosed in 2015/2016 and I’m still trying to come to terms with the fact that this is actually what it is. My current rheumatologist explained that it’s the receptors in our brain which we can’t control. However I still feel like fibromyalgia comes from something else lol like I feel like we all have underlying conditions that just haven’t been caught yet.

i can understand that i feel that since there isn’t a cure for it and there aren’t a lot of medications sometimes it’s easier to blame yourself and say that it’s your fault since there aren’t a lot of options it is a valid medical condition though and it’s not just in your head while it is worsened by emotional pain that’s not the only issue and it’s not your fault that you have it, it gets better i promise 💖
