So I need to switch primary care providers. Doing so will give me a means of scheduling appointments without having to deal with the social anxiety of communicating with another human. It'll also mean a doctor that understands me and my issues more will be put in charge of my health. It's a good thing overall, truly. Except I've been seeing my current primary care provider since January of 2020. She doesn't quite understand me, but she does her best and I'm used to her. Appointments with her are easy. Still, I know switching is the right decision for me overall. The doctor that understands me more says that he'll handle the switch and he isn't putting pressure on me, but I'm still scared. My fear feels very irrational and illogical but part of me feels like I'm abandoning my previous provider. Of course, I'm sure she wouldn't take it personally... but it feels really sad and that makes me not want to move forward for what I know is the right choice. I'm not sure how. Has anyone else felt the same?

I know it sucks to worry about hurting over people's feelings. I've been that way my whole life unfortunately. I've always put everyone above myself but it is time for us to put ourselves first! You need to focus on how you feel and do whatever feels right for you. Good luck.
Very common feeling, especially with mental health providers. Which is obviously not what you're dealing with but is the context in which I have dealt with this. The responsibility of any Healthcare provider is to prioritize your care. That means switching, sometimes

Hello friend! Your concerns are perfectly reasonable and valid. Doing new things can be scary but are sometimes important! While I know you have the feelings of your previous provider in mind she most definitely won’t take it personally, if you’ve found another provider that can fit your needs and help you to feel better. It ultimately is your choice and you should do what’s best for you! Although change can indeed be hard, you got this! I wish you luck with whatever decision you decide to pursue! 💕
