Queer Mental Health: Anxiety and Depression

I think my anxiety around my identities would definitely be less if I had a supportive family that didn’t use religion to justify their homophobia.

The world as it is built now does not support the majority of people with their struggle with mental health let alone LGBTQ+.

Yeah @frances4ever i don't think it's the orientation itself that is ever implied to be the cause of the stress. It's living in a cishet world that treats you sideways because of it, and the stress and sadness that can accompany the experience which is individual to all queer folx as opposed to straight/cis folx.

depression and anxiety just runs in my family but gender dysphoria and generally not being accepted by society for being me definitely adds to that

I'm unsure of my sexuality and it stresses me out

i am a bisexual woman ❤️ i don’t feel my sexual orientation itself is a cause of my anxiety disorders, the root of them is almost certainly early medical trauma, but i can definitely see how it would be for someone else

The correlation is obvious living in a cishet patriarchy.

I’m queer with depression and anxiety :-) maybe its a result of being overly self-aware lol

I am non-binary and have had DNA testing done with my psychiatrist. Found out I actually have a gene that makes me more anxious. A lot of us might have it.

I'm quite queer and I have noticed this too it's very interesting!
