Has anyone had to go under full anesthesia for a colonoscopy? I'm a bit frightened by this

Yes. I have. Multiple times. It’s the best sleep you will ever have the night of the procedure. It is scary. But you just have to remember that doctors are there and will watch over everything and take care of you.

It was my first time getting anesthesia around june for a colonoscopy and it was a comfortable experience. The anesthesiologists wheeled me back and the explained everything to me. They put the mask on and continued talking and asking me questions and I drifted off pretty quickly. You will be okay though don’t worry!

Honestly it was not as bad as i expected. I think the worst part of a colonscopy was taking the meds the day before and being on the toilet the whole time. But the Anasthesia was actually kinda nice because I slept hard with it. Lol

It's usually not general anesthesia it's Twilight sedation. So you still are breathing on your own

      Worst part is the prep

I did when I was a kid and it was no bother! Best of luck with it!

Yes they always put me under and it is no big deal. If you have had any problems with general anesthesia tell them your allergic to Sulfa drugs and they will use the better stuff on you. I have had 4 Colonoscopies with no issues with the anesthesia. For the prep though get green apple or a blue Gatorade and put the prep in it. Then use a vey long straw and sip it down fast.

Hi! I did it once when I got my diagnosis, overall it was better than I expected, I remember the anesthesiologist talking to me, and the next thing I remember is waking up in the recovery room, without any memory of the time in between. Don't worry, it's a really simple and common procedure. Good luck!
