Clearing Up Misconceptions About NPD

the majority of the population's interpretation of NPD never fails to confuse me. we don't go out in the night and wander the streets looking for victims. we don't formulate 10 year abuse plans for everyone we meet. we don't kick puppies or spit in children's faces and then drink their tears. I honest to god do not care enough about most people to put in the effort it would take to traumatize them. and I only think about myself, right? only care about myself, right? so why do you assume my life revolves around you? why would I act like an asshole and relentlessly berate the people I see often and/or who I enjoy interacting with? acting like an asshole gets you hated and makes everyone think of you as less than and inferior. which is something I absolutely cannot handle. it makes little sense in the context of NPD. it goes directly against what I want and need. most people have no understanding of NPD and what it actually is, and yet they consider themselves experts. I really, truly do not understand. as someone with NPD, the thought of making myself look like a complete idiot by preaching about a topic I have no understanding of as if I'm an expert is literally mortifying... so perhaps there are a few pros to this disorder lol.
