Hey so I’m suspecting I have CPTSD. I am diagnosed with BPD. Not saying that is why I think I have it. I’m uncovering all of the traumas I’ve gone through and was wondering if you guys have gone through similar stuff -growing up in a house that was severely neglected with dog pee and poop everywhere -hoarding food in your room so no one else could eat it -I know this is trauma for sure but being raped at 13-15 and your parents telling you that you wanted it and just regret it -doors off hinges and room checks -being sexually assaulted at a mental ward at age 12 -multiple suicide attempts where your family claims it was for attention. -called names such as whore, r word(don’t feel comfortable saying it), loser etc -bullying from a very young age -self harm starting at age 8 If anyone is comfortable sharing their experiences if they relate or not would be very much appreciated! I love feeling not alone and this whole app helps with that!

I don't even need to know your symptoms to tell you you absolutely have CPTSD. For anyone to go through that without developing it is unfathomable to me. Major overlap with BPD symptoms as well. Check out this podcast "traumatized mother (eff) ers" on Spotify, it really helped me understand what was going on with me and how to deal with the effects of my childhood trauma. All my love 💕

hi! just the way it was explained to me, borderline is more of a base personality disorder from very long-term childhood neglect/trauma. cptsd seems to be less of a childhood deal and more of a repeated abuse deal. they tend to overlap… i was basically told to choose my diagnosis because they are treated the same. i’m not sure that it completely matters as long as you are getting the love and treatment you deserve now <3

Typically what causes CPTSD is repeated and/or inescapable trauma, everything you listed could easily be considered traumatic and seeing as most of it is surrounding your family and home life I'm sure it felt inescapable. I was diagnosed due to a number of years of being physically abused and sexually assaulted by separate family members during my childhood as well as being somewhat separated from my father, who despite his issues was still fundamentally the better parent, because of his financial and severe clutter blindness and food issues leading to an unstable living environment.

Hey there. I'm sorry those things happened to you. You didn't deserve to be treated that way ❤️ Double-checking which BPD you're meaning: bipolar or borderline? There is some discussion around how CPTSD absolutely can contribute to borderline personality disorder. It isn't always a guarantee or one-to-one, but there are some connections. I do think CPTSD can exacerbate bipolar disorder as well. I was emotionally abused as a minor by both a parental figure and then into my twenties by a romantic partner. I very much noticed a difference in how I was able to handle my mood episodes when I was out of the abuse cycles. Hope you find some good community here ❤️
