So I don’t generally like many things about myself, and when I’m hit with a compliment by my s/o, I always disagree with it because I don’t feel like I deserve it. I always feel like it bothers them how I deflect it and don’t take it, but I just never know what else to say. How do you guys respond with compliments and how should I get better at it?

I'm the same way, I've found it easier though to just say thanks and not argue, even if I don't believe it. I hope you come to a point where you can believe nice things about yourself 💕

A simple ‘Thank you’ won’t ever fail you. You can also use the opportunity to compliment them back, and this may even help you see others’ compliments as genuine.

A common reason for compliment-deflection is guilt. Many people who face this feel guilty for receiving positive attention because, like you’ve stated, they feel they don’t deserve it. I’d recommend taking some time to critically think about what brings this guilt on and work on healing that wound so that you can learn that you are deserving of wonderful things. As for now, I’d say try letting your appreciation be known, even if you disagree with these compliments. Maintaining that mutual positive energy is a great first step to accepting yourself and their feelings.
