Has anyone else experienced emotional, mental, and/or verbal abuse by family members after receiving your diagnosis? I've been dealing with a lot of that over the past few years. I'm getting sick of it. My mom threatened to kick me out of the house because I don't know how to talk to her "the right way". I'm not allowed to vent to her.

Dude I’m so sorry it’s like that :/ My parents have never threatened anything like that but my mom frequently responds to me venting with stuff like “well how do you think I feel?” Like when I’m too panicked and miss a doctors appointment and go to her for comfort and she’ll be like “well it makes me feel like a failure of a mom that you couldn’t just do it” Usually she’s great. Not when that happens. And my dad? I still think he thinks if I just try harder it’ll all go away, as he once infamously told me after I was too tired to go to the store after work “When someone gets cancer they don’t just give up, you need to be pushing yourself more” UGH. I say this all to show I can relate, I think a lot of us can. I don’t know your parents or your life but sometimes the only thing to do is fight it out or spend time teaching and reminding them about your reality. That SUCKS to do bc its not your job to make them care but. It is how it is. I’d love to listen if you want to send me a rant just to get it all out- I won’t even respond if you don’t want me too
