Hello everyone! I am looking to find people with a similar medical history to me. If you can share similar experiences, please reach out. I was diagnosed with Exercise Induced Anaphylaxis (EIA) and chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) in 2018 at age 21. This is thought to have been triggered by some stressful life events at the time. My symptoms mainly include whole body hives / urticaria during or following even light exercise (sometimes even a gentle walk to the car), or from an increase in body temperature (eg a long hot shower). I often experience facial swelling, especially in my eyes, and a horrible burning sensation in my skin. On about 5 occasions since 2018 this has resulted in me taking my EpiPen due to feeling dizzy or experiencing difficulty breathing alongside these symptoms. I take Xolair (omalizumab) and inject 300 mg every 4 weeks. When I'm on Xolair I am virtually asymptomatic, but I still experience facial swelling and a general feeling of unwellness with intense or vigorous exercise, or prolonged exposure to heat eg a sauna. In the UK, Xolair is only approved for my condition for a 6 month period at a time. I therefore have regular treatment breaks in which time I relapse and have to qualify to go back on treatment. I usually experience at least one episode of anaphylaxis during this time. I have had asthma and allergies my whole life, including a severe peanut allergy for which I carry an EpiPen, but nothing has been quite as life-altering as the EIA. It has really affected my self confidence and given me a huge amount of anxiety surrounding exercise. This has also led to weight gain.
