Hello. My diagnosis is Anti Dermatomyositis MDA5. I'm new here and I'm starting a new treatment called IVIG infusions. Has anyone else done them and what are the pros/cons of it? Do you have any advice? All the other treatments I've tried so far have done nothing to slow the progression or help my symptoms so I'm really hoping this will. I'm also taking a daily dose of Prednisone 5mg and Plaquenil 200 mg twice a day those help some thank goodness. Thank you so much for your help and advice, have a blessed afternoon!

When I relapsed I went from methotrexate to ivig and it's literally amazing. A lot of fluid so constant medication is my recommendation! The fluid headaches are no joke. Rotating on tylenol/ibuprofen does the charm. Is the best treatment I've ever had with the least amount of nasty side effects.

I didn't do IVIG because it's time consuming but I do Rituxan treatment every 6 months

This has been my go to treatment since it’s the only one that’s helped cleared up my symptoms, it does cause some major migraines for me after receiving but talk to your doctor they gave me fluids(saline) during infusion which really helped! good luck 💓

I have not tried the IVIG. Keep us posted if you see some good results. I just started Dupixent ( along w Prednisone and Mycophenolate) and will do the same Good luck
