I ran away from home for one night two days ago. I didn't go far I just went to my grandparents on the other side of town. (it's like a 5 minute drive) I was so stressed and overwhelmed all my mind kept telling me was to get out of the house. I wasn't mad at my parents or anything like that and when I normally get the thought of wanting to leave I just shut myself in the bathroom. My dad was awake still at that time so I told him I had to grab something out of my car really quick. Obviously I hopped in and quickly started my car and left. Right as I was pulling into my grandparents my dad began to call me. He had realized I hadn't come inside and looked out the window and saw my car was gone. My grandparents didn't know I was coming till I was already half way there when I called them sobbing. (this is all at 10pm btw). I stayed the night at my grandparents and came home the next day. My mom is happy I'm home but my dad is very upset with me. He makes me want to go back to my grandparents....

I am sorry you are going through this, but I am glad you are safe. I know what it's like to get the overwhelming feeling of running away. I have gotten those feelings often, especially in my teens/early 20s. I would encourage you to talk with your parents about your feelings of needing to get away for a little while. Develop a plan of action (something pre-planned like you staying at your grandparents for a night or two) for future times when you feel this way. That way your parents won't be worried about you if you leave without them knowing.

It seems like you were overwhelmed and needed a temporary escape from your home environment. Your dad might be upset because he was worried about you. It's important to communicate with your parents about your feelings and the reasons behind your actions, so they can understand your perspective and provide support.
