I can't watch creepy things sometimes because they can create a new intrusive thought... I saw a creepy thing in a movie and now it's replying in my brain and I can't get it out šŸ˜µā€šŸ’« I think I need tw's for even things like bugs or body horror and just can't look at it otherwise it gets stuck in my mind and it stays there for so long. does this happen to anyone else? do you just avoid horror movies?

Been there done that. I remember watching fear street when I was having a massive OCD flareup with my friends. The weird thing is when iā€™m in my stability periods I love horror movies so I thought watching something I liked would help me keep my mind off things. But nope, everything I saw became a constant loop in my head and I deadass thought I was going into a psychotic episode or something! Trigger warnings are amazing but your mental illness shouldnā€™t have to stop you from watching things you like, the best techniques I use now to prevent these during a flare up is using an sensual anxiety grounding exercise (aka. 5 things you can see other than the movie, hear, smell, touch, taste, etc) or temporary distractions until a triggering scene passes like anxiety games on my phone, my favorite ones rn are slap and run and bridge race! I hope this helped and iā€™m sorry to hear this happened, you got this ā¤ļø

Omg same, rn there's an ad on YouTube that's ruining me and I wish that you could give Google a list of triggers to avoid or something because watching certain YouTube videos is a huge coping mechanism for me but the horror movie ads are unbearable

When my OCD was really bad, I looked up every movie, show, and game I consumed on doesthedogdie.com It tells you all the possibly trigger warnings, and when they are. It may ruin a few plot points, but I prefer a few spoilers over triggers
