I’m having intense anxiety about everything in my life and can’t get my mind to shut up. How do you all do it?

My go to for this- override my body and get as much shit done as I can so I have less random all consuming anxiety and overwhelm thoughts and/or I do an activity that I can’t think about my stuff while doing. For me that’s boxing, martial arts, high intensity workout. Low intensity when my mind is racing feels more like torture. I have some friends that say motorcycle, car racing. I’m by no means saying it needs to be an adrenaline rush but more so trying to give you and idea of what I’m meaning… find an activity that you cannot be doing while overthinking or focused on anxiety. It’s a little respite from the thoughts. I find the more I do it the less overwhelming they are in general but that takes consistency. With chronic pain this is my problem (lack of ability to do the things that keep my mind quiet) so I try to distract myself as much as possible. Find special interests and go down rabbit holes. Not as effective but sometimes it’s all I can do so. Also as mentioned above the to do list/planner helps but everyone seems to do it differently so find what works for you. I go back and forth between that being helpful and more overwhelming- balance of using that. Hope you find what works for you🙏🏻

Marijuana has been my savior, and i used to be against doing any drugs. I make sure to smoke sativa during the day and indica at night to help with my insomnia.
Personally I'm on Lexapro and it's helped my mind a lot. I used to have very intrusive thoughts coming from anxiety and depression but it's been silent in my head since I started :) it was the only thing that helped me
@WhiteSheepGal when you had intrusive thoughts, what would happen? I have them, I believe and like bad thoughts would come into my head and I will like jerk and try to make it stop. Idk if that makes sense.
@Katie11 the more you want it to stop the more you wish it away the harder it will come on..
I like ranting to someone who will just listen and not try to fix it. I hate when people tell me to just breathe or go to sleep...that doesn't work for me!

You should start by writing a to do list r or something for daily activities that need to get done. Because I’m a way, they kind of helped me a little. Just checking off everything on my list and finishing just give me a feeling or empowerment of some sort, and opened a new path of productivity and relaxation for me. I don’t know if it will help you, but it sure felt like a leap of mental improvement for me. Just, try it out.
@meh thank you!
I feel you. I’ve been trying to get mine under control. 😔 I feel hopeless.
@Katie11 your not alone and not hopeless ❤️
