@ArouraBorialice coffeeseed (Tumblr I think) God, I can't tell you how much the "there's not enough enrichment in my enclosure" joke has helped my mental health. Because, for some reason I can't comprehend, pretending that I'm a zoo keeper caring for an animal (which is also me) just makes everything easier to comprehend. Like "Your head gets screwey when you're apartment is messy" just doesn't carry as much resonance as "The tiger becomes agitated when its enclosure is cluttered" because then I'll be like, no shit? The tiger? I've gotta keep things nice and clean for the tiger.

I have an app called obidience it's typically for BDSM type relationships but I find it does help me with remembering small tasks like brushing teeth, showering and eating

I like to imagine that Iโ€™m a disembodied demon or something that is inhabiting my current body. Gotta take care of the host body in order to survive!! Itโ€™s ridiculous and silly, yeah, but it gives me a chuckle sometimes and convinces me to take care of myself.

One thing I struggle with is washing my face, so to encourage myself to do it, I've put all of my products in my nightstand, which is right next to my bed. That way I can continue to lay in bed as I continue step by step in my routine. I also only wash my face with face wipes/micellar water. That way I don't have to stand in front of the sink and make a big mess

I make a sticker chart, one of those kiddy reward charts. You don't have to actually buy a reward for yourself at the end (though you can if you want!), it just helps me to have a visual reminder plus a little positive "hey, you get a sticker for ___!" If you want, I have a chart that I made myself that i can give you. Hope this helps!!

I was going to mention something similar to this. There are nights where I just want to crawl in bed but my teeth feel gritty so i grab my brush to at least run it over them dry or a floss pick to get any basic buildup out while I'm going pee or grabbing PJs or refilling water bottle.... Often that turns into me doing all the other mini steps like toothpaste and 2 minutes brushing etc because having the brush in hand triggers just enough dopamine to make the whole task seem more appealing. Same thing with hair brushing... Just gotta get it untangled enough to braid, not perfect. Or if a shower is too much stimulation/effort then washing the pits and the bits with a wet washcloth and bar soap works for the immediate need so that I don't feel as gross. And the key part? Anything you do is enough so long as you do a little something. It all adds up so don't feel guilty if you can't tackle every self care task in full every day.

Something I've heard is to make it as little steps as possible. Like, if you have trouble brushing teeth, then maybe get some of those little toothbrushes with the toothpaste already on them (like Colgate wisps I think they're called) and keep them in various places! Or, when you're in the shower, brush your teeth (I know it sounds weird- but for me personally showering is easier. I just grab my toothbrush and toothpaste). Doing the minimum is better than nothing too! Brushing without toothpaste is better than not at all, or brushing for 1 minute is better than not at all. I've also heard (but have yet to try) chaining tasks together :)

Thinking about what I have to do the next day. Thinking about the after thought. Like I hate taking a shower but I'll be itchy otherwise. I don't want to brush my teeth. But then people will say something about it. Idk if it's the best way, I like the other person's comment but it helps to force me to do things

@Chesbro99 might not be the best, but it works! ty ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

@ArouraBorialice this might be the best advice I've ever seen and I think im gonna start trying this. especially as someone who owns snakes and always tries to make sure they have as much enrichment as I can
