hi! it depends on what you’re struggling to cope with, but things i wish i knew: 1. you look cool asf with sunglasses on. wear them more to help with sensory overload and also to, as aforementioned, look cool asf 2. get enough sleep as much as possible. the more tired you are, the less horrifying the world is 3. loose and comfy clothes ALWAYS. you can look cool and be comfy! 4. ask for clarification more, nobody worth talking to will be annoyed! 5. other autistics make the best friends 99% of the time. 6. plan with a degree of flexibility where possible to avoid getting dissapointed and overwhelmed when things don’t go fully to plan

I have both and know quite a bit about it and of coping mechanisms that could be helpful so you can ask me any questions:3
@AnimalBoy I recently started taking Focalin and strattera since my ADHD has been acting up. If you're worried about medications being too intense you can try something like Wellbutrin. I've taken it for years. It's technically an antidepressant but it also treats ADHD. It also has way fewer side effects compared to other ADHD meds.
Hi! Nice to meet you, I also have ADHD, and ik theres symptom overlap between ADHD and autism, so feel free to ask me whatever ^^

I've been diagnosed with both, feel free to ask me anything!
@itoldyou6 thank you!! - do you take medication for either? I’m on an anti anxiety medication but I just feel like it’s wrong, but I’m also scared to take soemthing for adhd and have my brain be completely silent, I can’t stand the constant chatter but the idea of silence is so scary
Heya! I'm right there with you. I've been told by my current therapist that he's skeptical of it, probably thinks I'm reading too much into things. Now I'm nervous about but thinking that I should try to get evaluated by someone who specializes in it.

@Vinnocent I got told by a specialist that I don’t ‘look’ autistic.. which was really gross of them to say! - they then started pointing out my tics (I have a few nervous tics when I get anxious around new people) and made a Tourette’s joke :/

@Moolies Yikes. See, it's stuff like that that's keeping me from seeking a diagnosis. I have no idea which doctors around me are actually going to be knowledgeable about it
ADHD and Austism have a super high rate if co-morbidity, but the fact that symptoms are often at odds with eachother means that folks might be skeptical. Hecc them, they're not in your head. I absolutely agree you should keep pushing for at least an ADHD diagnosis, the meds have helped 110% for me. It will be hard to manage if you're also really busy, as the effects can be weird and hard to predict, but if you think it's worth it, go for it. Also, watch out, as there's been a shortage of Adderall/Concerta, two of the most common meds. Re: meds, it'll take awhile to find a combo/dosage that will work well for you. Personally, I'm on delayed release Concerta, quick release Ritalin, and guanfacine at night, and while it works well, it took a hot minute to figure that out. Also, if you're on a stimulant, 1) don't take them with food or supplements high in vitamin C, as it'll decrease their effectiveness; 2) they'll take about an hour to kick in and and hour before they stop they'll start to wind down. This might leave you brain foggy, cold, and lethargic, so figure out that window and be gentle with yourself; 3) stimulants can raise your body temp a couple of degrees, potentially making it seem like you have a fever. Avoid strenuous activity accordingly; 4) if you do weed edibles at all *do not* take them on a day you've had Ritalin. I did it by accident and was high as balls with racing thoughts at a really inconvenient time. Finally, welcome to the family :D

@Skylarkbard this is such great info, thank you so much!!
Hey I'm diagnosed with both and it is a lot of "fun" lol. Feel free to pm me if you would like to talk sometime about some tips and stools. I highly recommend ADHD Brain on YouTube
@NonbinarySlytherin thank you!
@feral.dyke the sleep thing is 100% accurate (great username by the way!) - these are great tips thank you so much! - I get never nervous to refer to myself as autistic as it is currently a self diagnoses, but after being on and off meds I’ve realised I am probably correct! - and scoring 186 on the raads r test!
hello! I'm on the same boat, and I was trying to get an adhd screening but my psych told me I have too much to worry about right now :') have you gone through that as well?

@thestinkmaster I’ve been told the same! - I got told “well you seem busy with work so I wouldn’t bother with it” - but I tried to explain that im struggling with work due to the constant chatter going on in my head!
@Moolies omg see! like c'mon, it'd help me with my preexisting disorders more if i knew the reason why lol
