So... Today I decided to withdraw my Public Speaking class because of my high anxiety with talking in front of people. I just hate speeches with a passion.. anyway, I feel like I failed, and just disappointed in myself. I feel as though I could've done it but yet I know I would have an extremely hard time since I get so anxious and jittery.. I also just have so much going on outside of college as well... maybe that's an excuse..? Im still a full time student as well... I may be too hard on myself but I feel upset and disappointed in myself because I am unsure if I made the right choice.

I think you made the right choice! You should never put anyone or anything before your own mental & physical health

Speaking to a crowd is always stressful, even to a small crowd. You have nothing to be ashamed of

Don’t be disappointed in yourself, you weren’t sure if you could do something so you thought it would be best to leave it. Just because you decided one thing wasn’t good, doesn’t mean that you’re a failure. But I would suggest trying again when you can, I used to have really bad anxiety from public speaking but I took a speech class. Because you have to do it so much, you get used to it and it’s not as worrisome anymore. Plus you get praise for some of the things you speak on and it makes you feel good. I would say give it a try for a while and if it still doesn’t feel good, then withdraw.

If you feel that’s what’s best for you right now, don’t beat yourself up about it. I know how that feels. I have a stutter so public speaking can be very scary
