I have 7 cavities and 7 developing. Over half my mouth is cavities, fillings etc. Its not all ur fault tho. Genetics are a big factor. Some people have 1 cavity and brush once a year

I also have depression that makes it hard for me to do basic self care and chores. One thing that has really helped me is a chore chart. You can find them on Amazon, mine has star magnets but you can also get whiteboard ones. Theyre made for young kids but, hey, if it works it works! I really like lists and it's motivating for me to be able to check things off, so having a chore chart to check off the smaller things like brushing my teeth helps me to get them done. Everytime I reach 100 stars I get myself some sort of treat, and whenever I'm sad and don't want to get up I think of it, and it helps ÚwÙ🌸 Progress is better than perfection, and you're making progress!

I'm sorry you feel that way friend. Already feeling so awful and then having someone put you down, even if that's not their intention, is really discoraging and feels terrible. I definitely encourage you to tell your dentist you have depression and that sometimes it's hard for you to get up and brush your teeth, and maybe also that it's something you're sensitive about. They're doctors and they're there to help you. I believe in you!! ✨️

I feel the same way because I’m addicted to fizzy drinks + I’m British and I fall into the stereotype

I dread going to the dentist for the exact same reasons! I get told how irresponsible and careless I am which really doesn't help

@Rizz they act so upset as if they didnt sign up to be a dentist and do their job. did they expect to be cleaning 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 clean/good teeth? i understand concern but they are just angry it seems. ig most dentists are far too old to know depressions a thing lol

@arttheclownapologist Innit! No one ever talks about this when it comes to depression but brushing your teeth becomes like the biggest challenge in the world at times. And the dinosaurs who call themselves dentists don't understand 🙄

This is a constant worry to the point I just don't go to the dentist any more because I'm too scared. Only thing I have found helpful is having some mouth wash handy because then on bad days can still at least vaguely clean with far less energy but even that is hard some days

@Peppercorns i would quit going if i wasnt being forced, i live in a small town full of rude people so the dentist i go too isnt good but i dont have any other options atm.

I've had several long patches of time where I would neglect my teeth. Fortunately I regularly get nightmares about my teeth falling out, so it kinda scares me into taking care of them. I also work with a lot of guys who are missing several teeth and I'll just say they don't have pleasant smiles. It sucks and is a pain in the ass, especially with flossing.

@Doost i floss all the time lol i also have nightmares ab that idk why it doesnt motivate me to take care of myself
