I have been diagnosed with Bipolar 2 and PTSD. Both impact my life greatly and are starting to effect the way I work. How do I go about asking my employer for a reasonable accommodation? I've done some research and, under the ADA, I'm able to ask for RA, I just don't know where to start. Have you ever gone through this? Or do you know anything about this?

This is unrelated but you might want to start getting disabled, my bipolar turned into schizo affective and I was homeless 2 years while I waited for the legal fight for my disability claim denial to be appealed in my favor with the help of some legal representatives, if you don't do it preemptively you might experience a period of huge loss and possibly even legal issues, I know it might be out of character for you to get in trouble legally but when you lose your mind all the way you wont know and wont be in control, so look into the process and ask your psych if you should consider it since you're starting to require work accommodations, everything takes months or years for it to start but I got my disability benefits and they found other stuff with the doctor visits like cholesterol and I was near fatty liver, my olanzapine was also making me gain weight, now I'm getting a handle on things and have even been able to get housing, I miss work though but i might just use up all the free time to learn tech and medicine to help somehow

What accommodations would you be asking for?
@Chesbro99 thats the thing, I have no idea. I was thinking I should talk to my therapist and see what she thinks would be best? I genuinely have no idea where to start here
@Elianah , I agree. Talk with Human Resources and they will point you in the right direction. I know it’s hard to ask but you need these accommodations to make a living. Good luck to you.
