rant/vent: my OCD has been getting so much worse since I was told I had to get surgery in November. I was afraid to get sick and managed to avoid it. now im healing post op and its worse. my wounds are along my stomach so I want to avoid getting sick. my partner had heart issues the other day and I had to take him to the ER (he is ok!!). Sitting in the waiting room was excruciating. so many sick people. just hard not to spiral with worry that I caught something. it's so frustrating. I know I'll be fine but my brain is just fire.

I'm usually able to logic my way out but it's been really hard lately. I really struggle with feeling okay with the logic bc I know it's true. I will literally be fine. But I struggle believing that I'll be fine. Thanks for responding. Helps to know I'm not alone.

OCD is a bully and always will be. Part of my OCD used to be extreme germaphobea. Some things I've tried that have worked with me is making the situation real and being logical. If you got sick what is the worst that can happen? You have to learn not to catastrophise. You get sick and get thru it. Chances are much higher that you'll be fine. If you get sick you get help and get better. Plan the situation out, make it real, and decatastrophise. OCD loves the unknown and makes you fear the unknown and uses your fears against you. OCD is illogical so be logical and fight fire with water!
