How does this app make money?

As far as I’ve generally understood, it’s all a research project with potential for multiple streams of funding from healthcare companies and organizations that want data related to their goals. I’m suspecting they may be partnered with a patient portal platform that they mentioned at registration when you could port all your conditions in if you were using that platform. On their About page on the website, though, it says they are “backed by mission-driven funds” with a link below to Pitango. Pitango appears to be a group of investors with a branch focused on healthcare technology startups. They offer business development assistance to the companies they back.
