      I am a bipolar schizophrenic and it is a wild ride. I went without meds for years. Then they tried lithium. Now I take Aristada shots and Aripiprazole for breakthroughs. It helps with both the mood swings and hallucinations. Plus, I lost 40 lbs after getting off the lithium.

      Welcome! Lithium can help, but I got off of it because of the side effects. It is known to cause weight gain and needs close monitoring. Also, it tends not to help with hallucinations.
