Anyone else on the autism spectrum have any gender confusion? I have episodes of feeling like I'm female, agender, and in rare cases, male. And sometimes I can't tell and try not to figure it out. My sense of gender is wack! I also have bipolar disorder, so I wonder if those episodes cause those different gendery feelings. I know this is hard to explain, but I just feel so lost. I've just been going by any/all pronouns and have been still living as biologically female (I'm AFAB.) Maybe I have already posted this before. Just might want some more insight as to why this gender confusion is happening. It might have been in question after or during college at some point. I could be genderfluid. But I hate explaining this to people over and over again.

@Ande yeah I'm pretty sure the food stuff is due to a part of our brain being smaller than neuro typicals and I have similar experiences with the second thing too.

Same! I personally think neurodiverse people have an entirely different experience of gender than neuro typicals! And maybe your genderfluid?

@wilby I've also heard that autistic individuals have different neurology than neurotypicals. Like the thing that regulates hunger and stuff, it's harder for us to decipher if we are hungry or not. Or when to stop eating. I'm also concerned I could have a mild eating disorder... Also may have a harder time deciphering gender dysphoria, or if it's that and/or body dysmorphia.

I have the same main two as you. If I’m having bipolar psychosis it also triggers an autistic meltdown, so it’s always a mixed episode 😭😭😭 but the point is I’ve felt this way, often in the manic-mixed ones, sometimes in the opposite as well too though…..
