@LivisNana sometimes I’ll try to take my second dose later in the evening to try to stretch out the amount of time I can actually get some work done and i end up just taking a nap 😂

@spoonkingg Omg for real. The only things I've found that actually help are edibles and clonidine 🫠

It's hit or miss for me, but when it does work it's really hard to wake up in the morning, so that kind of backfires.

Melatonin has never helped me fall asleep. Honestly adhd meds help me sleep better than anything 😅

@aries02 yes!! The meds I just started have turned the volume down on my dreams and I'm sleeping better than I can ever remember in my life!

I can't take melatonin; it just gave me weirder nightmares than I was already having.

Fasty brain gogos doesn't totally block out melatonin for me but I do find it much less effective than a lot of other options. I was previously prescribed gabapentin and I found it worked really well for me and helped me get a sleep schedule going

it worked the first time and then never again, I take vistiril now for the nights I need sleep

It doesn't touch me, never has. I am currently on trazodone to help me sleep

@Emo_Enby_99 I tried that for a bit and it worked but it made me groggy 😭

My doctor recommended Benadryl for me for that reason, that usually works for me

@MixedBag0fMess I tried Benadryl for a while and it put me to sleep but I always felt so groggy in the mornings and it was super hard to get out of bed.

Melatonin gave me such severe nightmares that I was too afraid to go back to sleep. I had a friend tell me it had the same effect on him.

Some people have the opposite effect.. when my brother was little he would drink coffee before he went to bed and then he’d get tired; it was really weird. It’s like the things that were supposed to make him tired.. didn’t work.. but the things that were supposed to energize someone, made him tired. I guess it just depends on your body?

      • SalineTurnip

        480d

@LoveMyu this is common with ADHD. Caffeine makes me sleepy too.

@SalineTurnip I used to take my adderall to help me sleep.

High doses I found out can cause the opposite effect! I started splitting my 10mgs in half and i’m gonna go that until the bottle runs out and switch to 3mgs. Ngl melatonin is not the safest thing on the market cause it is often under regulated and is a psychoactive hormone being sold as a “supplement” my real benefits tend to come from CBD oil

Melatonin worked on me when I was younger but eventually it didn't have any effect at all. No sleeping medications have ever worked on me, until I was prescribed Clonidine for sleep

The amount of melatonin you need to feel sleepy is way less than they pills give you, it’s like half a gram max or something and having too much melatonin can cause the opposite of the desired effect and keep you up. If you can’t find very small melatonin pills I suggest taking tryptophan at night instead, it is a building block for melatonin and serotonin and your body can make what you need out of it

@VixenBelladonna yes my doctor said I could take 3 of my regular melatonin pills to equate to the normal amt

@VixenBelladonna I never took pills it was always the gummies

Melatonin doesn’t work very well for me and now I’m starting to wake up a lot on my gabapentin too 🫠

For me, I feel like melatonin works sometimes. So I wonder if it only "works" on the nights I'm actually tired lol. Idk I don't take it consistently either, just when I feel like I CAN'T sleep
