Yes, and I feel really lucky. I was dating my current partner when I found out I had GHSV-1, and he's been nothing but supportive. It's possible I got it from him, but he's never been symptomatic or gotten tested so it's hard to say. We use protection and communicate openly about it, and although it was an awkward conversation at first, it really hasn't caused us any problems!

Thankfully, my current partner (hopefully my last) is understanding. We do use protection, both to prevent pregnancy and the spread of herpes. He's not yet comfortable not using protection for both reasons, and neither am I for the reason of unplanned pregnancy. He wants to get dental dams at some point, but I've never used them before and I'm not sure if I'll like them, so for now, he doesn't give me oral. I'm a little sad about that, but I understand. I have HSV1 genitally, and it's riskier with oral sex, having that strain of the virus. And realistically, his face is a big part of how he makes money, so I can understand him not being comfortable risking that now, or ever. But he loves and accepts me, and that's enough for me.
