in my personal experience i have been recently trying to accept that i’ve been groomed online. i am really attached to the person who groomed me and i feel really dependent on him. i can not see him as a bad person for some reason and it kills me that i am not able to talk to him anymore. has anyone had a similar situation ?

finding a therapist that works for you if definitely a journey, but i know you’ll get there! keep trying and eventually you’ll feel comfortable talking to them. it’s definitely a vulnerable topic. i had a hard time opening up about it too but a good therapist will wait for you to be ready. i’m glad you’re seeking help!

Yeah, personally I'd consult a therapist, as they have a lot of training in that area. Best of luck!

are you currently in therapy or if not, is that a possibility for you? for me the most important method for my recovery was having a safe space where i could talk about how i was feeling without being ashamed about it. many people in my life didn’t understand and made me feel stupid for being so attached. grooming and abuse are so effective that they essentially condition your mind into believing and protecting the groomer/abuser. it’s difficult to decondition and relearn healthy mechanisms without professional help. it can definitely be done but it can take much longer without therapy. anyways, if you can’t get professional help this app is definitely a good first step in the right direction as it provides you with a place to vent and learn how other people cope. you are not alone!! (sorry for the long message i just was in your position a couple years ago and wish i had someone who could have told me these things)
