What are you alls experience with weed (if any) and bipolar? When I was diagnosed 3years ago, they told me to stay away from weed, and that it contributed to how severe my mania was at the time. But i started smoking again recently and I feel like I’m doing better w/ it now. am i just speedrunning my way to mania again

I smoke weed everyday? I am on meds for bipolar but I never had issues with weed 😳😳 I smoke solely indica but I can see sativa possibly making people feel weird

For me being bipolar helped me find a balance with weed as I was smoking too much before I had my first manic episode. Smoking during mania also caused me to go very psychotic but that depends on the person. Don’t make weed part of ur routine is something I would suggest for especially myself. If I wasn’t medicated I’m told weed could send me into an episode very easily. For those bipolar people I know who don’t take meds they are only able to do it because they stay 100% sober

I'm high rn. It helps me cope with my mania bc it's so much worse than my depression. I'll be manic for 5 or 6 months and weed is all that helps sometimes

tbh it mostly just depends on the weed you smoke

I also think it depends on what kind you do of its sativa or indica probely spelled those wrong but also how you take it if it's smoking it, or gummies or drops

So I think it depends on the person, and by that I also mean where that person is mentally and physically in the time of using weed because I’ve found it can affect me differently when I’m sad vs when I’m buzzing. For me weed can really help calm my mind and relax me when I feel mania coming on or am having symptoms. For job reasons in the past I stopped using weed for about a year and I noticed changes that weren’t too bad but then I was able to realize how positive weed had been for me. I also always pause for a while with medication changes to make sure I’m understanding how the new medication is making me feel. Anyways, I think if it’s helping then it’s helping and if you notice some mania symptoms appearing in a while and can’t pin point the trigger then you can stop smoking and kinda experiment with how it affects you.
