I recently had an echocardiogram and it revealed that I have pulmonary insufficiency??? Does anyone know what this could be a sign of? My cardiologist seems stumped and I've been having a hard time functioning due to my symptoms. I don't know where to go from here. Does POTS cause this??

This most likely wouldn’t be caused by POTS, as POTS is technically a nervous system issue. But it could cause POTS-like symptoms. This is more commonly caused by a congenital heart defect or something like infective carditis. Just my two cents as a patient and nursing student, obviously listen to your doctors, they know better!

@SlothFan26 I really appreciate your input. Is it possible for someone who is 22 to be diagnosed with a congenital heart defect? Like they just never noticed it until now?
@Tayaso yes, it’s possible it can be missed! Typically it is found in childhood, but some people may not be symptomatic or diagnosed until adulthood. I’ve seen some children’s hospitals see young adults for it before
