I’ve read that “acknowledging” an intrusive thought helps with processing it, but how does one exactly do that? Many of mine stem from my own traumas and a lot of the time they just stop me in my tracks and I divert my attention because they scare me. What does acknowledging intrusive thoughts look like for you?

I've heard that you just tag it in your head as what it is then move on but not forcefully. When people try to meditate, they literally think 'thought' if a thought pops up and 'emotion' if an emotion pops up and it actually worked for me the time or two I tried it.

If they're trauma based you should look in to EMDR therapy. I tried to face mine head on by myself and felt like it was just a loop.
