Anyone else with adhd feel this way? I often have struggles that I can see very clearly exactly what I need to do to help myself, I know the mindset I need. I know the steps and how I can make it easier for myself. But I’m always forgetting about it. For example with my weight loss, I have set macros that I understand and foods that I know and like that fit into this guide, but throughout the day I always forget about it. I even made a collage of things I need to remember and set it to my Lock Screen, and it didn’t work. Might start writing on myself lmao

Keep a handy dandy notebook. Decorate it. Make it your Bible. I have a grateful notebook. My therapist suggested it well actually she gives me homework. So I keep it close.

yes! it’s like object permanence but for tasks. my mom gets so upset with me for not doing things I commit to like girl I’m not trying to mess with you, I have a disorder!!
@strawbrei I find that I have to switch up my methods, because if my brain gets used to a certain type of reminder, I stop paying attention to it. I default to the iphone reminders because if you set a date and time, it won’t go away off your lock screen until you press “completed” but I know writing on your hand is a thing that works for many people

@strawbrei I didn’t know that about reminders! Thank you! I understand the frustration from family for sure, but healing yourself first makes healthy relationships a lot easier, I’m working on that too with my grandma. We got this bestie!
Yes! Me too! It’s very frustrating. I’m very inconsistent in remembering and doing what I know helps me. I’m learning after 56 yrs of feeling guilt & shame to embrace my mind & body and try super hard to not apologize for things I don’t have control of and to not compare myself to others. I try to remind myself it is not helping so let it go.
@Mommy_bear That’s AMAZING, guilt/shame is troublesome especially when it’s all internal. But we all got this, self love is hidden in the cracks of all of this. It’s a big messy storm of just wanting nothing more than to be good, which everyone is inherently. Be kind to yourself, I’m always sending love!
Yes and it’s literally so invalidating sometimes (for me at least) bc ppl around u know that ur aware and can be a high functioning individual so they don’t believe u could possibly be struggling
Yes!! This really sucks.
