Having certain textures on hand usually help ground me. I tend to lash out and then recluse from areas/situations when experiencing sensory overload and take a couple minutes alone (even if it has to be inna bathroom or car) to focus on the positive sensation that calms me

Keeping hydrated and taking steps to protect my eyes and ears. I use sunglasses religiously and turn off overhead lights that irritate when I can. Earplugs that are comfy have helped me a lot. I schedule time to recover when I know I'm walking into a draining situation. If you have a stem you like- example fidgets, particular pleasing textures, calming music, bring them with you. I dress for comfort as a priority, it gives me more "sensory spending" of that makes sense

I'm still figuring this one out. Most of my life I've just avoided things, which didn't do anything but make my mental health decline further each day. Now I'm 20 and So far I've learned that getting a good rest helps me the most. I get very emotional and overwhelmed at the slightest things when I'm not well-rested. So making sure to go to bed on time taking a 3mg melatonin (not too much or else you'll be groggy) stretching and not scrolling only my phone before bed is actually a crucial necessity for my overall wellbeing. And being in a situation having one headphone in wearing comfortable clothes with pockets, have something to fidget with even if it's not an obvious fidget toy. Like a necklace or bracelet. And if your extremely overwhelmed tell whoever take a step outside, or bring up something that's of ur interest (if ur with people) when there's w good conversation i tend to calm down and turn more into that then my surroundings. Also have a personal mindful practice. I've recently started diving into Subconscious Magic and psychology. Doing a particular action with intention triggers different parts of your Brian. So Overtime repeating a practice and habits improves brain function and Mental health. Also "Calming" Supplements help me a lot. Hope this helps :)

Usually I remove myself from the situation and/ or use some of my comfort items to help prevent a melt down. Thin gas like: hoodies, toys and fidgets, and headphones all help me.
