Are psychiatric hospitals actually a good thing?

Definitely. I have been 3 times in the past 3 years. I guess I couldn’t call them super ‘positive’ experiences? - but that’s simply because of the state I was in at the time. In reflection, it was the safest place to be. It’s like a reset - they’re adjusting/adding/monitoring meds, group activities, check ins, stuff like that. Leaving inpatient also led to me attending PHP which was a SUPER positive experience for me every time. I ended up going to same one 3x (which might sound bad haha but it’s a great stepping stone for recovery) and every time I left the hospital I genuinely was in a more stable place. :)

They've rarely helped me. Only 1/7 times did I find it remotely helpful. It does depend on the person, but ive found myself more traumatized after going than I was before.

They can be helpful. I've found one by me that I feel safe at.

Carrier Clinic in Belle Mead, New Jersey, is great.

Thank you. I’ve been in a behavioral center for a while because I don’t live near anything big like that and I hated it a lot. Thank you though

yes absolutely, i've been in-patient 3 times and each time has felt like a weight off my shoulders bc they care! they care abt you sm and want to send you out well and able to manage what you struggle with. it's all abt being part of your help whether that be med changes, evaluations, mindfulness, etc.., you're in control of what you think is best for you. you can try out different things there with medical help on hand to see what will help you thrive best.
