Opened up to my parents and my brother that I was thinking about being less ambitious so I could be happier. Turned into a battle between them about who understands the road to success better. Been procrastinating on an assignment that was due already and I’m losing points for every day late. I know I should just do it and rip the bandaid off but I can’t get myself to do it. I hate my instant gratification oriented, avoid pain at all costs self :/ Maybe someone can relate?

I agree that career "success" isn't everything but i would be mindful of a potentially perfectionist mindset. it could be that you don't want to do the assignment because you already know you can't get a good grade on it, etc.

I think both perspectives are right! You know yourself best and I do think you should trust yourself in what you want. Since I don’t know the situation I don’t want to overstep and explain what your family thinks when I don’t know them but I do agree that you shouldn’t give up on yourself either. It’s totally understandable and I’m sorry your in a conflicting situation. I hope it works out well for you

There is nothing wrong with “ intentional living” or “slow living” that’s a choice you make for yourself and damn who disagrees! Success comes in more forms than just money, stressful jobs and material things.

Another day late. I’m in a self destructive spiral I can’t get out of :(
