Does anyone with epilepsy drink alcohol? If so how much do you drink?

I drink & use medical lettuce almost daily. I was diagnosed with epilepsy 15+ years ago. I’ve not suffered any side effects from any substance use. I drink an absurd amount of energy drinks. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I know all those things are bad for me but fact is I’ve never had these things trigger any seizures. Hope this is helpful 😏 Tho as a mother… I say, just don’t do those things 😝😜

I do. And the amount varies, from 1 drink to getting plastered. I am in no way encouraging this, it is in fact self-harming behavior. But here are some example experiences: 1. My medications have a huge impact on my reaction to alcohol. 1 of them will make me really drowsy (ONLY if I drink 1 drink OR if I drink slowly). The 2nd one essentially heightens the effects of alcohol, BUT I have to drink REALLY fast otherwise I just get tired. This does make me a "light weight" tho. So like 2 mixed drinks. As long as I get passed buzzed fast enough, I do not have to worry about falling asleep at a party essentially. However, I had a seizure the next day on 2 occasions. I had a severe panic attack one time (there was NO stress trigger). So my advice in case you are to drink anyways, no judgement of course. The first time I drank I made sure like half the people there knew I had epilepsy, how to get to the emergency contacts on my phone, and what to do. I did look up what would happen if I drank while on my medications, definitely do that. DO NOT TAKE STIMULANTS AND DRINK I make sure I have the next day to rest. That will help with preventing my seizures, the more sleep and rest I get, as mine are sleep-sensitive. Always eat

I've been told by a neurologist that about half a mixed drink is okay. But not any more. Basically, don't drink to get drunk. It's just in case you want to fit in and not be the person not drinking. Still wouldn't recommend. One time I had a whole mixed drink at a restaurant and had a bad seizure that night.
