Does anyone feel comfortable enough to share coping skills for meltdowns? I think that is what is, and has been happening. I have not gotten to talk to my doctor for any yet.

if i can, i try to get away. limiting the amount of stimulation im taking in is my first step to calming down when im overloaded. i recommend keeping comfort items or textures with you that you can use quietly, so even if you can't get away you have something that may help

I usually try to keep small squishy type thing or play dough in a closed bag with me for when i need it. For me in break downs i used to do the 5 sense things or 3 things 1- something u can see 2- something u can smell 3- something u can taste (that’s not harmful) 4-something u can touch 5- i honestly forgot the last part but my counselor told me 15 breaths and making sure u stomach moves with each one that’s helped me a lot i never really get to 15 but still it’s something to help focus ur mind on

Getting to a safe, comfortable, and familiar place if possible helps for me, and if not, then I just try to get away from whatever situation is bothering me to find a secluded, quiet place to calm down. Comfort objects can help as well, I have a weighted blanket that works very well in terms of pressure therapy, it's very grounding
