my doctor is going to refer me to a driving school for autistic people (in the spring). im very excited but panicked about it. i only can drive straight, with my shoes off.
I'm just happy it's legal in my state. I NEVER EVER take my socks off unless im bathing, but I can't wear shoes if im trying to drive. I need to be able to feel the pedals on my feet
I drive barefoot and have shoes in the car to put on when I get to my destination. Most of the time it is slip-ons for easy. I also drive with both feet. Just makes me feel safer to feel the pedals against my feet.
Ee! That's super exciting! I'm happy opportunities like this exist and are more and more common for people with special needs. I might look into that more for myself. I wish you luck if you decide to do it, that sounds amazing. Don't be too nervous about driving, it'll get a lot easier once you get the hang of it!
Driving is a skill! Just like art or playing an instrument, with practice, it'll get better. Everyone feels a little nervous about it at first but eventually you may feel more confident in your driving. Sometimes it takes a few months or even a few years to get the hang of it, and that's okay. As long as you're doing your best, and using your blinker/indicator lol.
!!! shit I didn't know that was a thing!!!! /pos
that's so great agggg!!!!! I wish you luck!!!
I "failed out" of my driving school since I had a meltdown the first class and couldn't manage the 1 on 1 with the teacher so my permit expired ages ago, I have to look into this I hope I can find something like that near me!!! <3ππππ
yes! my high school wanted to get me involved back then but I wasn't mentally ready to drive. my doctor and I are hoping i can get a spot sooner rather than later. internet trends have made resources for disabled people a lot harder to come by
