how do you figure out for yourself if something is for sure a hallucination? I don't have much breakthrough psychosis, besides voices and those are pretty easy to tell, but lately I've been pretty sure I was smelling things, but wasn't worried. Lately I've been hearing a phone alarm that isn't mine? it's very quiet around the same time every day, about 22 minutes after I wake up. then there's also some weird moaning next door every day around the same time. not really sure what that's about.

Something that really helps me differentiate from real and hallucination is asking myself if the thing I'm seeing/hearing/smelling/tasting/feeling makes sense. I'll be alone in my room and hear voices and I have to ask myself "do these voices make sense? I'm in a room all by myself. There is no possible way someone real is actually talking to me right now" for me at least the hallucinations are always sort of out of place or a little off and I've learned to be able to figure out if it's real or not using this method
