Hello, I was diagnosed with Ramsay hunt syndrome and trying to find people who are dealing with/had felt with it to hopefully find some answers. Is anyone willing to share their story? Thanks!

I do not live by dc! They referred me to a dry eye specialist and will see them on Tuesday, fourth eye doctor I will see, and hopefully the tear duct plugs will help keep moisture in. I will keep you updated!

How did your appointment go today, if you care to share? Hope it went well.
@ToddGack they put a punctual plug in my eye and I’m taking prn fish oil to help with oil based tears. All that and the restasis they said all I can do is wait. I do have to say the plug is helping and I have to put them in less! Also my eye doctor explained he only wants me to use drops no more than once an hour anyway to keep the oil in there. So I’m feeling hopeful about it! Hopefully they come back soon.

@ToddGack wow thank you so much. I saw an ophthalmologist last week and he said there was nothing he could do but prescribed me restasis. I was not happy with him so I have an appointment with a plastics ophthalmologist tomorrow and will certainly bring this up. Thank you so much!!
@Han_Banan absolutely. Do you live near wash d.c. by any chance? If so, I can recommend someone. Also, if Refresh isn't sufficient enough, there's another type called Systane that helps with excessive dry eyes, to be used at night. Xiidra is another one you may want to raise with ophthalmologist. My understanding is Restasis can take months to help.
Hi, I had Ramsay Hunt. Unfortunately, while people with standard Bell's Palsy usu go back to normal, it's less frequent for that to happen with Ramsay, and I never returned completely to normal. If you have any questions please let me know.
@ToddGack thank you! I am still dealing with balance issues, major hearing loss in affected ear/tinnitus , but my main concern is my right eye cannot produce tears anymore. Have you dealt with dry eye and were they able to do anything about it?
@Han_Banan hi, yes, that is resolvable. An ophthalmologist put a punctal plug in my eye (very easy, not surgery or anything like that) and they are safe and produce wetness. Such a lifesaver. Separate from that, I also use Refresh preservative-free eye drops 3x per day. I use Refresh Plus 2x per day and at night for sleeping I use Refresh Celluvisc, which is a gel.
