Someone, please read this.My boyfriend is going through a really bad depressive episode and I know I cant help and its breaking me. I feel close to nothing Im so upset Im helplessly watching my darling fade away, he isnt himself. Hes going to bed early and waking up late, hes not finding joy in anything. I just want to hold him but not even that would help, we met at a hospital for mental health and he said he was so happy and now hes slipping back into the mindset and i feel not enough a little. I just wish I could make him as happy as he does me:( I just want tk help Im sobbing rn Im so shaky I cant lose him I feel so useless. Im going through alot rn too, but it doesnt matter I cant watch him slip anymore its hurting so bad I just want my gage back

Try getting him to go outside and connect with nature. Whatever he does to be active like playing sports or going to the gym. Having a therapist in your back pocket is a great resource if he able.

Please take care of yourself, its not selfish. You said you are going through a lot yourself, you do matter. You cant help him if you are not in the right place yourself. Lead by example, show him how you overcome , just keep telling him how much he means to you. Please do not let yourself down, take care.
I know you want to help him, but make sure you aren't doing so at your own expense. You can't help him if you are in the same boat. Like another commenter said: a good therapist can make all the difference, whether it's for you or him. This doesn't mean you can't support him by any means, tell him how much you appreciate him and what he means to you. He has to want to seek treatment and get better. He needs to set a routine and stick with it to produce results. The worst thing he can do right now is all of that sleeping. He needs to try to get on a healthy sleep schedule, set up therapy sessions and maybe medication. I did a treatment called TMS which encourages the brain to fulfill the connections that depression has lessened or stopped. But honestly, for me treating Major Depressive Disorder was having a positive mindset, a plan and my faith. Even if not religious, meditation and deep breathing help.
