Hey, I have POTS and I am having severe blood pooling in my legs that causes extreme pain. I have tried compression socks but they don't seem to help. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Waist high compression stockings. Get measured for the correct size. They were covered by insurance I think. Get used to them and they help

Mine are the same way
Chest compressionwear Exercise your quadriceps and hamstrings to increase strength. This will help. Drink 2-2.5L of water minimum daily, and 3,000-10,000mg salt.
This sounds overly simple, but I just never stop moving. Like, I just constantly shake my legs and shift my weight so that the blood doesn’t settle. I don’t know if that helps, but it’s a lifesaver for me 🤷♀️
Flex your leg muscles while you’re standing! Your muscles are like big sponges for blood, so squeezing the blood out of your legs will get it moving again. It will be a little painful at first, but it helps a lot!
you could try marching in place sitting down or standing up. that also helps with transitioning from sitting to standing because it encourages correct bloodflow
I keep my feet up, or sit crossed legged, or sit curled with my feet on the seat of the chair, or sit on the ground unless I absolutely can’t. It helps it from getting so bad as quickly. I use typical high athletic socks because when I use compression I get like a muffin top from the pooling above the socks. So they aren’t as much compressive but the “spill over” pooling on top is much less painful.
@KitKat1450 I find sometimes compression socks make my pain worse so thanks for the tips!
@yourstrulymads yesss I have so many “compression” grade socks, clothes, braces that I’ve tried and ended up being more uncomfortable… too much but I’m usually ok if I only wear them for an hour or two. What works for me is I find athletic wear that has some compression but not too much to cause more pain like the legit compression wear and much cheaper that way. And I swear by Nike pro 5inch shorts as underwear- I wear them as underwear and have different sizes for different activity level- medium for actual workout and large to wear whenever. It works for me. Hope you find what actually helps you! Infuriating trying things and wasting money on things that are supposed to help and just give you another issue to deal with.
I was going to recommend the compression tights or leggings as well. Make sure that they fit well I hope you can find some relief soon!! Try to keep legs elevated as well when it is bad. Mild exercise can help long term. 🙏 ❤️
Have you tried high waisted compression leggings? Having the compression on my stomach helps lessen the pooling in my legs. If it’s a bad day I wear the leggings with the socks
@Wanderinglumos I haven't tried the high waisted compression leggings because I was always worried that I would get too hot and it would make my passing out worse. I will give them a try though! Thanks!
