I went with my mom grocery shopping today and didn’t even carry a lot. But after 2 hours of just walking around Sams Club, I was in a lot of hip pain. Thinking I may need to look into mobility aids soon. Any suggestions?

I would say that using a walker or chair could help. With some walkers you could walk around and sit for a bit and take a break.

I hear you! It only takes a shopping trip of about an hour and a half to cause me pain, and my family doesn't really seem to understand just how much it hurts. I've considered things like using those scooters (I'm very early on in my journey and I'm not quite sure what mobility aids are) but being just 16 I know for a fact that anything like a scooter or wheelchair would just feel humiliating. I'm scared I would get looked at and people would just think I was doing it because I was lazy.

@Blinky screw what they think, it's not them that are going to be in pain. Also mobility aids are things that help you move through the world better, like canes, walkers, crutches, wheelchairs, etc

I absolutely recommend seeing a doctor or physical therapist first because mobility aides can make your condition/pain worse without proper fitting!! 💝

      Pelvis brace/belt and a cane!

Compression underwear/shorts help me a ton for my pain in general

my hips constantly are hurting, and my very hard bed doesn’t help either.

I use a cane most of the time because they're relatively cheap and can help with walking. Also looking into walkers and/or wheelchairs, but cost can definitely be an issue there. Braces can also be a fairly inexpensive life saver if you're expecting to use a joint a lot!

If they have them, you can use those scooter shopping carts when you shop. I do and they help so much.

@Delirium they didn’t :/ I’m just more concerned with needing mobility aids

@Chroniclyme for me, I chose a wheelchair. Incredibly, I found an ultralight on Craigslist, which is awesome because I don't know if I could have gotten one through insurance. So I recommend checking there if you think a wheelchair might be right for you.
