@sages I also feel like this 24/7. Sometimes it lightens up but it never truly goes away.

is it normal for it to feel like it never truly goes away like i feel like i’m constantly detached from myself and others, it can get worse then better, will i be ok..?

Hi!!! For me some days are way worse than others. Today was actually a better day for me and i’ve been so grateful. I’ve been struggling less with dissociation by checking in with myself and reminding myself that this is real life, i am real, and it is completely okay. :)

I also take Hydroxyzine, but I only take it when I get real nervous/anxious because it makes me so tired
I take Hydroxyzine as a PRN for anxiety and an SNRI

Do y’all mind me asking if you take medication to help manage?
everything everyone is saying i agree with, just always remember we aren’t alone.
Thank you so much! It’s nice to know somebody can relate to what I’m going through.
I get that Sunni. It's scary. I've looked people in the eyes who I've known my whole life and they just looked like strangers. Like I didn't register any feeling affiliated with knowing them. It does pass. You don't need to feel guilty about struggling with this.
Sometimes it scares the crap out of me like i struggle with reality .. makes my head spin sometimes.

Yes that’s completely normal. When I have panic attacks I dissociate so bad I think I’m losing it and I’m gonna pass out. But I never do And it will lighten up as the days go on. It’s not easy to live life feeling like this but it will pass eventually!
Thank you guys, today was so tough. The past couple days leading up today I’ve been starting to derealization or dissociate .. but today I had a massive panic attack and felt like I was completed detached and felt so unreal. I feel like everyone is a stranger to me when it happens .. is that normal? Even my family like I’m emotionally stunted it’s weird ..
My DP usually gets worse at night when I’m tired, or when I’m in public and there is a lot going on, and usually when I start my cycle it gets pretty bad too I have to keep reminding myself to remain calm
Biiiiiig time. 100%. DP is caused by destress. Identifying and working with stressors is a big thing. Having a LOT (and I mean LOT) of different coping skills to keep you focused that you do regularly has absolutely saved me. Learning to leave rooms, eat food, ground, and keep myself adequately stimulated has helped immensely. Eye contact also makes people depersonalize less, along with responsive conversation partners
